Gene

I got behind again on the daily drawings this week. I got sick, and just did not feel like drawing. So, here I am trying to get back on track.

Today I drew one of my original characters, Gene. And yes, Gene's bein' a little sexy here... showing off his hairy chest and his briefs... Woo hoo!

Fighting Yank

This is the AC Comics version of Fighting Yank. AC Comics has done a better job with FY, and the other characters than Project: Superpowers does. AND they've been doing it longer. The main difference is that AC Comics has a retro feel to them, and P:S is using old character to tell modern stories. Seek out the AC Fighting Yank series. It's a wild ride thru the Silver-Age with tongue planted firmly in cheek, and fabulous Kirby-esque art!

Adventuress

Here's another one of my original heroes... Adventuress. She is one of the world's most skilled fighters, and leader of the Adventure Squad.

Scarlet Witch

Getting back on track here... classic Scarlet Witch. Not my best piece, but... I'm drawing something every day (and catching up on some scanning today...)

Atlas Parker

Here is one of my original heroes - Atlas Parker!

Nomad & Viper

I've been reading a trade paperback that reprints classic issues of Captain America And The Falcon. Specifically - the stories where he became Nomad. Good stories. So, I drew Cap as Nomad. AND I also drew Viper... I always thought she was a very striking (no pun inteneded) looking villainess.

Shyloh

Shyloh is an original character created by Ed Dansart. He's done some comic stories with her that have been pretty darned cool. Check out his work at http://edbot5000.deviantart.com/ There are lots of cool sketches and paintings there!

Wonder Girl

Well, I went out of town last weekend for a family wedding and that got me off track on doing these daily drawings. I have done some, and I inked them up today. Instead of trying to catch up completely, I'm just gonna post what I've drawn, and keep going from there...

I drew the Donna Troy version of Wonder Girl as she's long been a favourite character of mine!

Synn

Here is Synn, The Girl From L.S.D. (Lifeforms Supernormal Developement - or something like that). She's a member of the FemForce, and one of my favourite characters.

I know this is not the best drawing ever, but... I've been doing these fairly quickly. I will start working on slowing down a bit so I can turn out better art.

I will not be posting for a couple of days. I will be out of town, and will not have computer access. I will take my sketch pad with me, and work on my daily drawings. They will be posted the day I come back - Sunday, or possibly Monday (depending on how tired I am from traveling).

Clyde Didit

A little midnight action on today's picture here...

I decided to draw Clyde Didit! He's been a favourite of mine since I discovered him in an old issue of Josie from 1968 or 69. He appeared in 6 issues of Josie, and on one Jughead cover. Shortly after he vanished, Josie became Josie & The Pussycats. Clyde was a fun character, and I'm sorry we never got more panel-time with him! Archie Comics should definitely revive this character! I've seen him in the background of a few recent stories, but... c'mon! Full on revival, baby!

Anyway... enjoy my take on Clyde...

Amazing Lad

Today's drawing is another of my original heroes - Amazing Lad. He's the younger brother of Mr. Amazing, and new to the Adventure Squad. Amazing Lad has super-strength.

When I was laying down the ink, I realized that I messed his arms up a bit, so this is certainly not one of my best. I'll hopefully do better on tomorrow's drawing...

Millie The Model

I'm a day late in getting this posted - sorry about that. I drew her late last night...
I had written a whole big thing about Millie here, but it got erased when I copied it for dA. For some reason, this blog won't let me paste it back in... Go to my deviantArt site to check out what I wrote (if you're interested)... http://dynakor.deviantart.com

Sailor ???

Not sure who she is or what she can do... Sailor ???

Jughead

Jughead has long been one of my favourite characters from Riverdale! He's awesome! Sleeping and eating - - I can always go for that! I especially loved the stories drawn by Sam Schwartz, but I also appreciate how Harry Lucey drew Jughead. Among today's stable of Archie artists, Fernando Ruiz has Juggie nailed! I always look forward to reading new, or even old, Jughead stories!

Grey Warrior in colour

Grey Warrior

Today's drawing is of The Grey Warrior, one of my original heroes. (And yes, he runs around shirtless normally...) Grey Warrior is a highly skilled fighter, as well as being a low-level telepath. His telepathy is not very strong - he can pick up distress, and sometimes "read" what his opponent is going to do next.

I was going for that Batman: Brave & Bold animated look a bit when I drew this. I'm thinking of slapping some colour on it in a bit.

Nightveil

Today I drew Nightveil. She has long been one of my favourite heroines. I encountered her way back in Bill Black's Fun Comics #4. I then followed her into her own book, and then into FemForce. She started out in World War II as the Blue Bulleteer (based on the Fox Features Phantom Lady), and left our dimension to study sorcery with Azagoth. She returned years later as Nightveil, and continues to wage war on evil! For more on Nightveil, check out http://www.accomics.com/

#6

Well, I'm not too happy with today's drawing. It's not awful, but I see room for improvement. I was working from a photograph of one of my models... I was mostly trying to capture his face. I did okay, but got off track with some of the proportions. Still, I can always try again... I see what is wrong, and can work on fixing it in the next drawing.

Wolverine

Wonder Boy

Today's drawing is of Wonder Boy, a fan fic character I created. Wonder Boy comes from an Earth where everyone's gender is reversed... He is a member of that world's Teen Titans, along with Robyn - the Girl Wonder, Kid Flash, and Aqua Lass.

However, on the main Earth, Wonder Boy would come from the hidden Kentaur tribe! When the Amazons left ancient Greece for Paradise Island, several of the gods decided that their brother tribe, the Kentaurs, should have a place of their own. The Kentaurs were sent to the "Plains of Olympus", somewhere inside Mount Olympus, where they have wandered for centurires. The Kentaurs had their own means of viewing the outside world, and one day, they discovered a threat that would destroy all. Apollo, one of their young warriors, was chosen to go to the outside world and warn Diana (Wonder Woman), the Champion of the gods. Taking inspiration from Donna Troy in her days as Wonder Girl, Apollo fashioned a uniform and armor, and took the name Wonder Boy, since he was still sixteen summers by the outside world's count. The gods approved of his mission, and Apollo and Hermes granted the Kentaur Apollo with powers - flight and speed, and dominion over light. After succeeding in his mission, Apollo decided to stay in the outside world...

Okay, so DC Comics may never have a Wonder Boy, or not one with the origin I've thought up for him. Truth be told, while I would keep his powers and Donna Troy inspiration, I would probably create a different origin for Wonder Boy if I were writing for DC and able to bring him into the comics. For those who don't know, the Kentaurs were a nomadic tribe. They were such good riders that they were thought to be as one with their horse - ie, half-man, half-horse. That is where the myth of Centaurs came from.

Blue Beetle!

While I miss Ted Kord (he didn't need to die!), I really like Jaime Reyes as Blue Beetle. He's got a cool costume, but it's a challenge to draw!

I've been a Blue Beetle fan for a long time! In the late 1970's, I got some Blue Beetle reprints from Charlton, and was able to buy back issues of the 60's comic at that time. I loved those stories, and loved his costume! I was thrilled when AC Comics featured Blue Beetle in an issue of Americomics, and had hoped they would continue those characters.... But, DC got 'em, and I feel that DC has done right by the Charlton heroes. Blue Beetle at Charlton was a legacy hero, and DC has continued that legacy!

#3

Green Lantern - Hal Jordan. Drawn by request. I decided to experiment with the inking. I used a brush pen on this. Not sure if I like the results, but if you don't try new things, you never learn or grow...

Here's the modern-day version of America Anne...
America Anne was created by me over 20 years ago, while I was still a teen-ager. I originally called her USAnne, but the name eventually got changed. I'm looking forward to using her in my upcoming comic.

Welcome!

Welcome to my latest blog. This is a bit of an experiment for me! I decided that for 2010, one of my goals would be to do a drawing a day! The drawings will be a mix of my original characters, fan art, and even some experiments.

The first drawing, from yesterday, is of my original heroine, America Anne. She is in her classic World War costume. On my Earth, there was only one World War, instead of two. This War started a few years before our WWII would have, and lasted longer. America Anne was given powers by the Army in order to be a super soldier. She proved to be a popular heroine, and the Army did their best to keep her for promotional and ceremonial purposes. She did manage to fight crime and spies tho! Anne mostly fought on the home front, but did see some action overseas. Unfortunately, America Anne disappeared towards the end of the war.

For more of my heroes and heroines, check out http://www.korokstudios.com/ I am in the process of getting a comic book off the ground. The #0 issue of Spotlight Comics will hopefully be ready before too much longer.

Keep checking back for more artwork. In addition to my daily drawings, I plan to post sketch cards and other artwork on this blog. I will also post information and musings about my art, as well as anything else that might pop into my fevered brain!

Thanks for looking!
